Call for Submissions
Metanarratives invites writers, poets, artists and thinkers to contribute to our quarterly e-magazine exploring the intersections of art, politics and activism. We are looking for work that engages critically and creatively with the conditions shaping our world — and with the movements working to transform it.
What We’re Seeking
We welcome a wide range of forms, including:
- Essays and cultural commentary
- Poetry and short fiction
- Hybrid or experimental pieces
- Visual art, photography and graphic work
- Interviews or conversations
- Features on artistic projects connected to progressive movements
Work should speak to our core focus: the role of art in understanding political struggle, imagining alternatives and building collective capacity for change.
Themes
Each issue centres on a set of thematic concerns, but we also consider strong unsolicited work that aligns with our broader mission. If you want guidance on how your piece might fit, feel free to reach out.
Submission Guidelines
- Essays: 800–2,500 words
- Poetry: Up to 5 poems
- Fiction / Hybrid: Up to 2,500 words
- Interviews / Features: 1,000–2,500 words
- Visual work: High-resolution images with short descriptions
Longer pieces may be considered — please contact the editors in advance to discuss.
- Simultaneous submissions are welcome; please let us know if your work is accepted elsewhere.
- Previously published work is welcome, provided the original publisher has no objection.
- Include a brief bio (40–60 words).
